Wildlife Care Specialist Mentorship
DESCRIPTION
Wild Wonders (wildwonders.org) is a ZAA accredited facility located on 10 acres, about 20 minutes from Oceanside. This Wildlife Care Specialist Mentorship is a great opportunity to become familiar with a wide range of animal ambassadors. Participants will learn diet and nutrition, husbandry, enrichment, positive reinforcement training and handling or the animals, as well as assisting in onsite and offsite presentations.

Mentorships are 2 days a week for 3 months. This is an unpaid position.
Job requirements:
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated in fields such as Zoology, vet tech, equine science
- 18+ years old
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Have exotic animal and/or livestock husbandry and handling experience
- Ability to work in challenging weather conditions, such as heat
- For the safety of our animals, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID, and able to wear a mask for their shift
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Bonus experience:
- Previous animal care experience
- Previous animal training experience
