Junior Keeper for a Day Zoo Camp (ages 6-13)
Our Zoo Camp dates have been announced! We will be offering our four hour Junior Keeper-For-A-Day camps on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting June 17 and running through August 16.
If your child want to be a zoologist, the Junior Keeper-For-A-Day Camp allows them to participate in a hands-on half day camp that gives each child a unique, up-close and personal experience with this exciting career.
Your child will spend half a day with our staff of biologists, life scientists, animal trainers, and zoo keepers learning about animals from all over the world. Campers will help care for a selection of the 120+ exotic animals that make their home at Wild Wonders. Our skilled educators will teach the campers about various adaptations and survival strategies employed by the animals, using fun, interactive games and activities. The camp curriculum adheres to national science standards, and includes interactions and unique animal-encounters with a range of exotic animals. The camp lasts from 9:00AM to 1:00PM with a snack break in the middle of the day.
While all days will feature the basic program above, each day will have a unique activity:
M – Inspired by National Wildlife Foundation’s “Garden for Wildlife” program, Wild Wonders has set aside an area for a garden that will attract local wildlife. Our garden will have plants especially chosen to attract butterflies and birds. Zoo campers will learn about and work in the garden, what kinds of plants attract which type of wildlife, and why it’s important to help the wildlife in our own backyards.
W – Wild Wonders partners with multiple organizations that are on the front lines of conservation. Wednesdays will feature a deep dive into current conservation projects featuring one of our conservation partners, where you’ll hear what they are doing to keep our animal friends safe in the wild.
F –On Fridays, we will have a special art project using recycled materials. We have partnered with the professional artists at Art Smarts, a very popular organization that offers art lessons to kids. Their instructors will help your child create a beautiful drawing of one of Wild Wonders special animal ambassadors. Note that there will be an additional cost of $15 for Friday programs to cover costs of supplies and instructors.
Camps begin at 9AM and run until 1PM. There will be a break in the middle for the children to have a snack. Due to the variety of nutrition needs of each child, Wild Wonders asks that the children bring their own snacks.
For Monday and Wednesday camps, the price is $80/child. Additional siblings get a 10% discount.
For Friday camps, the price is $95/child. Additional siblings get a 10% discount.
