Frequently Asked Questions about our Africa Ecoventures
What is a typical day like?
Each day, you’ll be seeing animals. Depending on the day and location, your “game drives” will be in the morning, afternoon, or even evening. If you’d prefer to skip one of the game drives, you are welcome to spend a relaxing time at our lodge or camp.
What is a game drive?
Since the animals are out in the bush, we have to go find them. Typically, guests get in an open Land Cruiser, and we set off to locations where the animals frequent. A Tracker accompanies us to help find the animals, and a Ranger does the driving.
The game drive usually lasts a few hours.
Note that the vehicles are not traveling on paved roads, so the ride can be a bit bumpy.
How many people will be in our group?
There will be a maximum of 8 guests in the group.
Do we stay in hotels or in tents?
Since the key purpose of this trip is to see the wildlife, our accommodations are in beautiful yet remote areas. Building hotels in these areas not only is difficult and expensive, but takes away the ambience of the setting. Permanent tent camps with floors and en suite bathrooms are common and are quite comfortable. We stay in a combination of these tent camps as well as lodges.
Do I need to get visas?
Many countries in Africa require visas, but they are not required for South Africa. A regular US passport sufficient.
What vaccinations do I need?
The Centers for Disease Control maintains up-to-date information on what vaccinations are required and recommended in each country. Check their website (https://www.cdc.gov/) for the latest information.
